Data released by Statista, a market research company, project that the smart home market globally will reach US＄ 175.75 billion in 2025. For the Brazilian market, the projection is US＄ 2.2 billion.

With the end of the holidays and the hybrid model of work that companies have adopted in recent years, a concern arises among users: how to keep an eye on what happens at home with children, pets, and even possible intruders? According to the specialist at TP-Link, investing in surveillance cameras is a good way to not let anything go unnoticed:
“the market today has smart camera offerings that can be accessed and monitored through cell phones. In addition, many of them support voice assistants, which work together with connected devices to make the home even more automated.”
IMPLEMENT A VOICE ASSISTANT
The voice assistant, as Appel comments, is one of the fundamental pieces for those who want a connected home in 2022. They can be strategically distributed around the place too, through voice commands, perform functions such as turning on appliances, playing music, controlling smart lamps and sockets, and making calls.
“An efficient voice assistant can be seen as the centerpiece of a connected home. It, along with a rotator, will be responsible for orchestrating all device activities such as Smart TVs, speakers, and even smart locks. For anyone looking to start 2022 with connected home, voice assistants are a must-have,” says Appel.

BUY THE LATEST GENERATION ROUTER
Many do not know, but Wi-Fi routers have different specifications for different needs. When it comes to coverage, for example, there are several models that cover areas ranging from 50 to 500m². Therefore, the TP-Link executive continues, for smart home appliances to work perfectly, it is necessary to pay attention to some factors, such as whether the Wi-Fi signal is efficiently distributed:
“there is no point in investing in premium devices if your network does not support them. Different homes require different devices, so consider your home layout to find the best Wi-Fi solution for it. Finally, to start the new year on the right foot, Appel suggests that users pay attention to an important factor: the compatibility of devices with the residential router. That’s because Wi-Fi technology, like the mobile network standard, gets updates over the years.
“While the network without mobile internet moves towards 5G, Wi-Fi is in the 802.11ax standard, the sixth generation Wi-Fi. Thus, devices such as smartphones and recently manufactured video games are compatible with Wi-Fi 6”, explains Appel.
Therefore, to get the most out of the devices, it is worth checking which Wi-Fi standard they support. A good tip is to find out when they were manufactured: if the year is 2019, chances are they are compatible with Wi-Fi 6, which guarantees more security and speed for connected devices, with less interference and slowness.
“The attributes of Wi-Fi 6 are a big differentiator for users who are investing in a connected home. The router is the backbone of the residential connection, so acquiring an efficient device is investing not ‘only’ in a router, but in the future”, concludes the TP-Link specialist.
